GOLDTOP PREDATOR GLOVES REVIEW MOTOGUSTO MAGAZINE

Originally specialising in Equestrian wear, Goldtop was the go-to outfitter for Horse riding helmets, gloves, and boots, with even the Household Cavalry being adorned in Goldtop leathers.

As the use of motorcycles for leisure started to rise in post-war Britain, as did the need for quality motorcycle riding apparel that was not only safe and functional, but was stylish and warm too!

Throughout the late 1950s and through to the late 1980s, Goldtop was the premier supplier of affordable motorcycle apparel who’s quality could be relied upon for any journey on two wheels.

After a hiatus away from the market throughout the 1990s and 2000s, they are now back and bang up to date. Goldtop has firmly grasped modern safety standards by adding Knox Protection to their range of gloves and clothing, giving riders of all styles and generations a stylish alternative to the mainstream brands.

So if you are not one for company branding covering every inch of your new leathers, keep reading.

The Predator is a stunning new glove from the Hertfordshire-based outfit boasting Level 1 Certification with a Knox Microlock Knuckle along with a Knox reinforced lower palm.

Available in eight colours, It’s safe to say these gloves are not all about style. Comfort and safety are at the forefront of the design. It is clear to see there has been plenty of thought gone into the design.

"We are Goldtop. The British Motorcycle Outfitters providing safety, comfort, and style, to motorcyclists worldwide, since 1951."

Getting the taste

It took a couple of rides to get the gloves to soften and mould to my hand shape. Made with premium 1.0mm Aniline Cowhide, these gloves do feel premium.

Constructed with five-strand cotton stitching throughout, you know these gloves will last a lifetime if well maintained.

The upper part of the inner glove is silk-lined and makes for a more comfortable fit on longer rides, as you don’t get that rubbing feeling you can have on some gloves with no inner liner.

There are double-reinforced areas on the palm resulting in a softer feel when holding the bars without affecting feedback or control of your bike.

These are short gloves with a ribbed velcro strap that is not bulky, allowing them to slip comfortably under your jacket sleeves.

These are by no means winter gloves and are best suited to summer and autumn riding.

If you are looking for a new set of gloves that perform and protect along with a classic style, the Predator is not just for your cafe racer or bobber. They look just as good on a naked bike, adventure bike and just about everything else.

Be sure to get a tin of the Goldtop water repellent balm. It not only gives light waterproofing but nourishes the leather and gives the gloves a slightly darker shade.
